“History of Midwifery and Midwifery, One of the Oldest Women Professions in History”

A conference titled “Midwifery and Midwifery History, One of the Oldest Women's Professions in History” was held within the scope of the Women's Studies in the Academy Project carried out by Uşak University Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center and Uşak Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.

The conference was held in Mustafa Kemal Pasha Amphitheater and was attended by the Director of the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center Dr. Assist. Prof. Ayşe Gültekin, academicians and students attended the conference.

In the second conference of the project, which is planned as a series of conferences and where “Women in Ancient Greek and Roman Society” was first discussed, Assist. Assist. Prof. Dr. Şeyma Çatalgöl talked about “Midwifery and Midwifery History, one of the oldest women's professions in history”.

Lecturer from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. Lecturer. Dr. Şeyma Çatalgöl gave information about the development of midwifery from history to the present day and shared the resources written in this field with the audience. She emphasized the works of physicians who had an important place in the history of midwifery such as Soranus, Abu'l-Qasim ez-Zehravi, Şerefeddin Sabuncuoğlu, who gave important works in the field of obstetrics and the importance of these works in terms of the history of medicine and midwifery.

The program was organized by the Director of Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Gültekin, Director of the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center. Dr. Şeyma Çatalgöl and ended with a collective photo shoot.
