A bilateral cooperation protocol was signed between Uşak University and Uşak Governorship Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency.
The bilateral cooperation protocol signed by Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş on behalf of Uşak University and Provincial Disaster and Emergency Manager Yasemin Bebek on behalf of Uşak Governorship Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate aims to strengthen education and research activities in the field of disaster management.

Within the framework of the protocol, Uşak University students will be encouraged to become ‘AFAD Volunteers’ and these students will benefit from various trainings organised by the Provincial AFAD Directorate. The trainings include topics such as ‘Humanitarian Aid and Psycho-social Support’, ‘Light Search and Rescue’, ‘Fire Awareness’, ‘First Aid Awareness’. In addition, ‘Disaster Awareness Training for Individuals and Families’ will be organised for students and staff of Uşak University within the scope of 2025 Family Year.

Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş stated that the protocol will increase awareness against disasters and minimise the damage with the measures to be taken in possible future disasters. Rector Savaş said, ‘The society should become more prepared against natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods and landslides. This cooperation aims to raise a generation that will have the right information and action in case of a disaster. Within this scope, our young people will raise awareness and learn what to do in case of a disaster.’
Provincial Disaster and Emergency Manager Yasemin Bebek wished that the protocol would be beneficial for the youth and stated that this cooperation would contribute to the youth to be sensitive and prepared against disasters.
