Organized for the 4th time this year by Uşak University with the theme of "Quality Assurance in Education & Research Collaborations", International Staff Week hosted 60 representatives from 15 countries between 29 May - 2 June 2023.

The guests who came to Uşak within the scope of the International Staff Week organized by the General Coordination of International Relations of Uşak University got to know both Uşak University and Uşak closely through the panels and excursions.

On the first day of the event, International guests welcomed by Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş and visited Uşak University and got information about the studies. On the second day of the event, guests visited Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş and Uşak Governor Dr. Turan Ergün in his office.

On the second day, the opening ceremony held at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Congress and Culture Center was attended by the Governor of Uşak, Dr. Turan Ergün and Uşak Provincial Protocol also attended. At the ceremony, Governor Dr. Ergun, Rector Prof. Dr. Savaş and International Relations General Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Özgür Tarhan made an opening speech.

“Uşak University aims to increase quality assurance in international collaborations”

In the speeches, which emphasized the importance that Uşak University attaches to internationalization, it was noted that Uşak University aims to increase quality assurance in international cooperation.

As part of the second day activities, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf from The University of Lahore Pakistan made a presentation titled “Potential Indicators of Quality Assurance System in Higher Education and Research”. After the speech of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Uşak University International Relations General Coordinator Fulbright Coordinator Dr. Gaye Kuru made a presentation about “Turkish Culture”.

After the presentations, Uşak University Faculty of Fine Arts Lecturer Dr. Onur Altıntuğ Under the culture and art coordination of, Lect. Meltem Altıntuğ and Lect. Emre Aslan played Zeybek show , Lect. Hüsamettin Yüce Doğan conducted sema show and a music concert were held by the Uşak Municipality City Orchestra.

On the 3rd day of the 4th International Week, It continued with the conference and panel held at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Congress and Culture Center with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş . First of all, Türkiye Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) member Dr. Meryem Ayşegül Kozak Çakır held a conference on "Quality Assurance In Higher Education". In her presentation, Dr. Kozak Çakır answered the questions by explaining the quality policies implemented by universities in Turkey and their efforts to increase the quality in education.

After the conference, the representatives of the participating universities gave information about their universities at the event called '5- Minute Challenge: Introduce yourself!' and expressed their satisfaction with being in Uşak and Uşak University. In the event that took place in the afternoon of the third day, a panel on "International Education and Research Collaboration Opportunities" was held. In the panel moderated by Uşak University Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Bülent Çavaş; Action Request from TÜBİTAK Eylem İstem Atay and Tuğba Arslan Kantarcıoğlu, Ercan Laçin and Fatmanur Başak from the Turkish National Agency, Project Specialist Ayhan Güçlüyener from Kadir Has University and Prof. Dr. Bünyamin Akgül from İzmir Institute of Technology took part as panelists. The last event of the 3rd day was held at the Faculty of Fine Arts. International guests and participants visited the exhibition by participating in the workshops at the Ceramic Workshop.

Ancestor sport javelin introduced

The ancestral sport javelin was also introduced to the guests who came to Uşak as part of the International Staff Week. On the fourth day of the event, Rector Prof. Dr. attended by Şavaş. In the program the guests rode horses in the Kalfa Woods and met with Rector Prof. Dr. Savaş. He watched the javelin game in which Ekrem Savaş was among the players. After the javelin game, the guests visited the Uşak OSB Technopark and the production facilities in the OSB and got information about the work done. After the technical tour, the Uşak Museum was visited. The guests who received information about the artifacts in the museum expressed their admiration for the artifacts. After visiting the museum, international guests visiting the Ulubey Canyons in Uşak's Ulubey district stated that the canyon is a dazzling beauty. 

International guests who visited the ancient city of Ephesus on the last day of the event said that the events organized as part of the International Staff Week were very useful and informative, and stated that they were very happy to get to know Uşak University and Turkish culture closely.

Rector Savaş stated that they introduced both Uşak and Turkish culture and developed bilateral cooperation by hosting international guests in Uşak and their universities during the International Staff Week, which they have been holding for four years. Underlining the importance of Uşak University International Staff Week, Prof. Dr. Savaş said, “This year, we hosted the academicians, especially the rectors of our international partner universities, at our university. We aimed to increase the quality assurance in international collaborations of institutions and organizations operating in the field of education and research, with the meetings and events in which experts in their fields took part as speakers and panelists. During the week, our participants learned about quality assurance methods, strategies and best practices, shared their experiences and expanded their collaboration networks. We introduced both our city and Turkish culture through various excursions and social programs. Our International Week has been fruitful and rewarding.
