Farewell Visit from Palestinian Medical Students

Within the scope of bilateral cooperation with Palestine Polytechnic University and Erasmus + ICM KA171 Project agreements, 5th year students of the Faculty of Medicine of Palestine Polytechnic University, who came to Uşak University to do their hospital internship, paid a farewell visit to Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş.

 

During the visit, Rector Savaş stated that Palestine is a brotherly country for Turkey and that they are happy to host Palestinian students. Emphasising the brotherhood ties between Turkey and Palestine, Rector Savaş stated that the cooperation with Palestine Polytechnic University will continue for many years and that the support for the Palestinian people will continue.

This year, 30 Palestinian medical students completed their internship at Uşak University Faculty of Medicine Training and Research Hospital.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş stated that within the scope of the cooperation between Uşak University and Palestine Polytechnic University, a total of 30 Palestinian students completed their internships at Uşak University Faculty of Medicine Training and Research Hospital this year and said, ‘Our cooperation with Palestine Polytechnic University has been going on for 3 years. In this context, Palestinian medical students complete their internship in Uşak every year. This year, a total of 30 students completed their hospital internships through Uşak University in September and October.

-Palestinian medical students have been completing their internships at Uşak University Faculty of Medicine Training and Research Hospital for 3 years. A total of 49 students have completed their internships so far.-

Stating that Uşak University attaches importance to international bilateral collaborations, Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş said, ‘These brilliant students who are studying medicine have been coming to our university for 3 years to do internship thanks to the agreements we have made. Our students are doing internship in different departments at Uşak University Faculty of Medicine Training and Research Hospital. In the first year, 9 students came and did their internship in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Department of Mental Health and Diseases and Department of Urology. Last year, the number of students increased to 10 and they did their internship in the Department of General Surgery, Department of Paediatrics, Department of Emergency Medicine and Department of Internal Medicine. This year, 16 students arrived in September and completed their internships in the Departments of Neurology and Emergency Medicine. Our 14 students who came in October completed their internships in the Departments of Neurology, Emergency Medicine and Urology. I congratulate them.

During their farewell visit, the Palestinian students expressed their pleasure to be in Uşak University and Turkey and stated that the internship period was unforgettable both professionally and as a cultural experience. They thanked especially Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş, Uşak University Faculty of Medicine, the General Coordinatorship of International Relations, the entire Uşak University family and the institutions and organisations in Uşak for the opportunities offered to them. ‘The time we spent in Uşak not only increased our professional knowledge, but we also felt the hospitality of Turkey and its closeness to Palestine. We were very happy to experience this friendship and support here,’ the students said.
