Usak University does not forget the atrocities in Gaza

Uşak University staff and students made a press statement after Friday prayers to protest the human tragedy in Gaza, prayed and served lokma dessert.

With the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş, students, academic and administrative staff came together once again after Friday prayers to draw attention to the persecution in Palestine for months and made a press statement to end this persecution.

In the press statement, stating that Gazans are in indescribable and unimaginable pain, Ramazan Genç, a senior student at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, said, “The terrorist network, whose history consists of massacre and discrimination, has been continuing its despicable and immoral attacks on Gaza since October 7. As a result of these brutal attacks, more than 200 women and children are massacred every day and more than 35 thousand Palestinian brothers and sisters have been martyred so far. More than two thirds of those killed in the massacres are children, women, the elderly and people who were exposed to bombs while being treated in hospitals.”

-The West, the so-called defender of human rights, blocks calls for a ceasefire, actively provides arms and political support to this terrorist state, and, in an unthinkable act, silences and detains even protesters defending Palestinian rights.-

Noting that the propaganda machines of the world are not ashamed to legitimize the massacres of the terrorist network, the statement read as follows:

“The West, the so-called defender of human rights, is blocking calls for a ceasefire, actively providing arms and political support to this terrorist state and, in an unthinkable act, even silencing and detaining protesters defending Palestinian rights. As an indication of this, students who have started resistance for Gaza in American universities are being violently detained and these humanitarian protests are being forcibly prevented. We take this opportunity to salute our university student friends who are resisting in America and their resistance, and we declare that we are with them at all times.

This mentality, which equates the oppressor with the oppressed and tries to justify the oppressor, does not find a response in the conscience and the resistance is spreading wave by wave. While the governments of Western countries are virtually captive to Israel, the awakening and rising objections of the people of the same countries give us hope for humanity. The freedom marches for Palestine show that there are consciences that do not remain silent against oppression. In all this process, Turkiye, by assuming the responsible will in the international arena, continues to keep the Palestinian cause on the agenda of the world public opinion and tries to prevent the human tragedy in Gaza. We know that as Turkiye moves towards its historical depth, Israel's superficiality is revealed. In this context, Turkiye's intervention in the lawsuits against the terrorist network and cutting off all trade is disturbing the sleep of the oppressors and it is seen that these resistances are gradually bearing fruit. We salute our administrators who have taken these steps. Inshallah, the cruelty of the terrorist network and the silence of the western states will be instrumental in the awakening of the Muslim geography and the people of conscience of the world to see the truth. With the awareness that it is a humanitarian responsibility to put an end to the terrorist network's acts of violence against the civilian people of Gaza, we, the academics and students of Uşak University, cry out from this protest we have organized: Those who trample on Human Rights will be rejected by science first and foremost! The terrorist network has killed thousands of children and left thousands orphaned. How can you not hear the heart-rending screams? Where are you child rights defenders, human rights defenders, where are you? Where are you, Western states, champions of humanitarian law, who stood arm in arm during the Charlie Hebdo attack? What is the difference between leaving people to die without food, water, medicine or air and the Holocaust? How many more children must die to prevent Gaza, which has been under blockade for years, from turning into a giant cemetery? We strongly condemn the terrorist network that deliberately kills civilians, bombs civilian settlements, renders the city's infrastructure services, places of worship, schools and hospitals unusable, and prevents people from accessing the most basic needs; all institutions and organizations that condone the occupation regime, turn a blind eye to crimes against humanity, secretly and openly support it, and even the “people” who serve this evil. For the sake of children and human dignity, we make an urgent appeal to people of conscience: We call on all universities, scientists, intellectuals, people of culture and art, opinion leaders in different parts of the world to call more strongly for an end to the terrorist network's acts of violence against the civilian population of Gaza. We call on the world's conscientious journalists, business people and public figures to put a stop to the atrocities that Western media outlets are competing to legitimize. We call on all humanity to continue boycotting the products of the terrorist network and brands known to directly or indirectly support this crime against humanity. We call on all countries of the world to take a common stance against these unconscionable attacks and call for an immediate ceasefire and lasting peace. We declare that we respectfully support the struggle of Gazans to protect their most natural rights to live humanely and to protect their property rights and that we will always stand by them. Being human requires conscience and effort. The only hope in the face of this atrocity is the effort of people to remain humane. In the history of humanity, there are those who prefer darkness. And they will surely take their place in the history book as a shameful document.  What is essential for human beings is light, peace, not to kill but to keep alive! Greetings to those who think, worry and hope for humanity!”

East Turkistan was not forgotten either

“In this context, we salute our brothers and sisters from East Turkistan, another bleeding wound of ours, and their blessed resistance.” The statement also emphasized and condemned the persecution of our Muslim and Turkic brothers and sisters who are persecuted in different geographies of the world.

After the press statement, prayers were made for those who lost their lives in Palestine and lokma dessert was served.
