Security Staff Trained

Uşak University security staff were trained by psychologists from Uşak University Health, Culture and Sports Department.

Psychologist Merve Uçak and Psychologist Sevgican Yaşa provided training on “How to Approach Individuals Who Attempt Suicide?” to the security staff of our university on April 18, April 25 and May 2, 2024.

In the training given, it was stated that security guards should follow the following steps while giving detailed information about how they should behave in possible suicide cases and how the first intervention should be done: “112 Emergency Personnel should be called. Security Supervisor should be informed. School Police should be called. After 112 Emergency Personnel or the Police detain and take the person away, the name, surname and phone number of the student should be given to the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Unit. In case of violence by the family, the family should never be called at the first stage, instead, a friend, faculty member or family member who can be trusted should be called by asking who they want to be with them.”

During the training, which included examples of suicide rates and case studies from around the world, security staff were also informed about the legal and ethical requirements.
